At Morrison’s Family Eyecare Centre we are committed to providing our patients with ‘state of the art’ eye testing equipment; such Optos (Retinal Imaging), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Visual Field Testing.
At Morrison’s Family Eyecare Centre we offer optomap® Ultra-Wide Digital Retinal Imaging as an important part of our eye exams. The optomap® system produces an image that is as unique as your fingerprint and provides Sallyanne, Josh & Donna with a wide view to look at the health of your retina. The retina is the part of your eye that captures the image of what you are looking at, similar to film in a camera.
Many eye problems can develop without you knowing. You may not even notice any change in your sight. But many eye diseases, and other health problems, can be seen with a thorough exam of the retina.
The optomap® Ultra-Wide Digital Retinal Imaging provides:
- A scan to show a healthy eye or detect disease
- A view of the retina, giving your optometrist a more detailed view than he/she can get by other means
- The opportunity for you to view and discuss the optomap® image of your eye with your optometrist at the time of your exam
- A permanent record for your file, which allows Sallyanne, Josh & Donna to view your images each year to look for changes
The optomap® Ultra-Wide Digital Retinal Imaging system is fast, easy, and comfortable for all ages. To have the exam, you simply look into the device one eye at a time and you will see a comfortable flash of light to let you know the image of your retina has been taken. The optomap® image is shown immediately on a computer screen so we can review it with you.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
OCT is an advanced test that uses light to create a cross section image of the eye. This testing is ‘the latest and greatest’ in the world of Optometry. The images create high resolution and 3d imaging of the retina. This assists our Optometrist with the diagnosis of ocular disease such as; Macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and Glaucoma.
This is a non-invasive test that is simply performed by resting your chin on the equipment and looking into the machine. With OCT testing all results are stored so that we are able to compare previous results to detect any ocular changes.
This advanced diagnostic testing is NOT covered by Medicare and a small fee is payable on the day of consultation.
Visual Field Testing
This examination main purpose is to test the peripheral vision. The most common disease that affects the peripheral vision is Glaucoma. This is a very easy and non-invasive examination that requires the patient to cover one eye, then detect faint lights as they appear onto the screen and register the detection with a button click.
This test enables the Optometrist to detect any visual field defects. It increases early detection of Glaucoma and improves the success of the treatment in preventing any vision loss.
This testing is covered by Medicare.
