I am Sallyanne Morrison, the Director and Principal Optometrist of Morrison's Family Eye Care Centre. After gaining my Bachelor of Optometry degree from the University of NSW with Honours, I worked for a few years in a Paediatric Eye Clinic in Perth, Western Australia. Being born, bred and educated in Dubbo, the lure to return to NSW and be closer to my family was too great. I started Morrison's Family Eye Care here in Dubbo in 1992, and have been providing quality eye care to the region ever since.
My professional interests include prescribing and problem solving issues associated with contact lens wear. I also really enjoy behavioural optometry, as well as treating and assessing children's vision problems.
I have also completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Ocular Therapeutics. This course allows me to not only diagnose, but to treat anterior eye conditions such as conjunctivitis, removal of foreign bodies and objects from eyes, corneal ulcers and in-growing eye lashes.
Outside of work, I am a bit of a crazy cat lady! I love spending some quiet time with my family around our home, and shepherding my children to their various activities.
They keep me grounded and young at heart.
After working in an optometric practice in Sydney that did not fulfil my passion, I decided a challenge was needed and a move to regional New South Wales was going to be the start of a new journey. Several years later, after providing eye health services to the local community, multiple outreach towns and assisting in Dubbo Public Eye Clinic, I had never looked back.
I was awarded the Dr. Andrew Whatham Prize for best performance in Centre for Eye Health (CFEH) whilst graduating from University of New South Wales (UNSW) with Master of Clinical Optometry and Bachelor of Vision Science. This was followed by additional accreditation in Advanced Contact Lenses by Australian College of Optometry (ACO).
As I am therapeutically endorsed, I have a particular clinical interest in detecting, diagnosing and managing any eye diseases. This includes foreign body removals, sudden loss of vision, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma or even co-managing with your ophthalmologist!
When you don’t find me at work, I will often be on a hike in Warrumbungle or on a little road trip. You also may find me at the gym!
I am passionate in getting to know people and providing the best tailored care to all! I come to work every day with a smile, knowing I get to be part of an incredible family that fosters enthusiasm and positive change.
I am a therapeutically endorsed optometrist who graduated from UNSW with a Master of Clinical Optometry and Bachelor of Vision Science. It is my personal mission to ensure that when people leave my chair, they have a better understanding of their eye health.
Moving from Sydney was once a big and frightening thought, but I’ve come to realise that my passion lies in servicing regional and rural communities. I absolutely love what I do, and I am always eager to learn more!
Outside of work, I love to go for long drives and explore differing cultures through cooking as I am a big foodie. Looking forward to seeing you around!
PRACTICE MANAGER
I have been part of the Morrison's Family Eyecare Centre team since January 1996. My main role is to oversee the day-to-day running of the practice. I still love coming to work every day as it always has something new to offer.
After many years with Morrison's Family Eyecare Centre I have returned to study to complete my Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing. This is challenging whilst working full-time and being a busy mum of three!
The thing I love most about my work is not only the people I work with, but the patients we help every day. Working in the optometric industry offers so much variety in one day! From helping with frame and sunglass selections to arranging specialist appointment, not any day is the same.
Outside of work I love to spend as much time as possible with my husband, our 3 children
and 'fur-babies'. We love camping, travelling, water skiing and
going to rodeos.
OPTICAL DISPENSER
I have been a part of the Morrison’s Family Eyecare Centre team since 2004. I am a qualified Optical Dispenser. I am originally from Denmark, were my all my Family still live. I moved to Australia in 1995.
One of my first jobs in Dubbo was working for Grace Bros. I was working there for about 8 years. After leaving Grace Bros in 2004 I went to work for Sallyanne Morrison’s at Morrison’s Family Eyecare Centre. When I first started at MFEC I was trained by Sallyanne’s younger brother Rodney, who was working for MFEC. In 2010, I completed my Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing. I enjoy working at MFEC and helping customers.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, listen to music and reading books. My favourite sport is football (soccer). I coach soccer with local club RSL 78s.
OPTICAL DISPENSER
My name is Ebany and I have been working with the team at Morrison’s Family Eye Care Centre since April 2012 as a qualified Optical Dispenser. I began working as an Optical Dispenser in 2007 after finishing my HSC at Dubbo College.
I have had the opportunity to work in both regional and city areas which has broadened my knowledge of Optics and given me a key insight into the latest fashion and trends. I love helping customers select the perfect frame to reflect their own unique personal style.
Outside of work, my partner and I love to travel and attend as many gigs and music festivals as we possibly can.
OPTICAL DISPENSER
I joined the Morrison’s Family Eyecare Team as an Optical Dispenser in 2019.
I have been in the optical industry locally for over 19 years and a fully qualified dispenser for 14 years.
I enjoy guiding patients through the eyewear process-
From choosing the perfect frame or sunglass to providing advice and recommendations
to best suit their eyecare needs.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my beautiful little family, caravanning adventures and generally chilling out.
OPTICAL DISPENSER
I have been employed at Morrison's Family Eye Care since 2005. I am currently on maternity leave with my second child.
I enjoy all aspects of my job, no day is ever the same. Morrison's Family Eye Care is a bright and friendly place to work, in which I thoroughly enjoy.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, travelling and going to the gym.
RECPTION & CLINICAL ASSISTANT
I have been working with the team at Morrison’s Family Eye Care since April 2019.
My clinical duties include conducting Visual Fields, Optos, and OCT’s, also helping out at the reception desk.
I love being able to help patients with their eye health needs.
In my spare time I love spending time with my daughter and walking our dog.
I also love to travel.
RECEPTION & OPTICAL ASSISTANT
No longer the new girl on the block I’ve been part of the MFEC family since November 2020, having 14 years experience in the optical world and over 26 years in the Allied Health Services, I still find the optical world very interesting and love trying to pre diagnose patient’s eye health conditions
(sometimes I even get I correct).
My roll as receptionist & clinical assistant allows me to connect with patients whilst conducting their Visual Fields, Optos and OCT and sometimes I even offer my fashion advice when helping patients to choose their new eyewear. This interaction is a favourite part of my working day.
When I’m not working I love spending time with my family and friends, I also enjoy a little exercise which apparently never hurt anyone and believe that laughter is the best medicine.
